The Orient Hotel
On the ground floor of the Orient, the Public Bar and the courtyard beer garden are welcome spots to escape the bustle of Sydney’s harbourside precinct. We also have harbour-view seating in our Alfresco area on Argyle Street with no bookings necessary.
Up on the first floor, you’ll find Mrs Jones, our dining area and terrace bar named after one of the hotel’s earliest licencees, Jane Jones.
With sliding glass walls and a retractable roof, Mrs Jones’ Terrace garden bar is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious cocktail and great dining overlooking the cobbled laneways of the Rocks.

WHAT’S ON
FUNCTIONS
Our Function space on the top floor of the hotel offers three distinct areas: a dedicated bar area, dance floor and lounge area with comfortable leather sofas overlooking Sydney harbour.
Ideal for medium to large corporate and private events, with the option of seated dining, cocktail events, theatre-style and conference functions, Orion can cater for just about any event.
Mrs Jones Dining on the first floor of the Orient is available for group bookings anytime, or for exclusive use Monday to Wednesdays. Named after Jane Jones, the hotel’s licensee in 1897, our first floor boasts grand the Georgian proportions of the Orient’s heritage building, and is enhanced by a classic, relaxed style which harks back to the nautical origins of the hotel’s founders.
The space is made up of three seating areas which flow into each other: one of these can be partitioned off to create a private area seating up to 20 guests.
The glass and steel-framed conservatory-style terrace sits on the first floor of the Orient overlooking our tree-shaded ground floor courtyard, with a retractable roof and large sliding glass walls making the Mrs Jones Terrace suitable for events in any weather. The space features small tables, as well as banquette seating along the glass walls.
Available for small group bookings anytime, or exclusive use with a minimum spend Mondays to Wednesdays, Mrs Jones Terrace is perfect for relaxed cocktail-style functions.
